Our cherry tomatoes are grown organically in the fields at CFR Farms in Beaverton, Ontario, without synthetic pesticides — one of more than 30 varieties of fruits, vegetables, and herbs we grow on our self-sustainable, solar-powered farm just outside the GTA. We let our tomatoes ripen fully on the vine before picking, which is what gives them that concentrated sweetness that’s almost impossible to find in tomatoes bred for shelf life and shipped long distances while still green. Growing organically also keeps our soil healthier season over season, since we’re not relying on synthetic fertilizers or chemical pest control. Because our operation runs on clean solar power and keeps overhead low through self-sufficient infrastructure, we’re able to offer organic produce like this at genuinely fair prices. Cherry tomatoes will be available by the pint through our online store for home delivery, at our on-farm retail outlet, or wholesale to hotels, restaurants, and grocery stores across the GTA — a favorite for chefs building menus around fresh, locally grown produce. We’ve also built walk-in cold storage on-site to help preserve freshness during peak season. Any surplus that doesn’t sell gets donated weekly to our local food bank and the Salvation Army kitchen, so nothing from a strong harvest goes to waste.
