Cucumbers at CFR Farms are grown organically in our fields in Beaverton, Ontario, without synthetic pesticides — part of a produce program covering more than 30 varieties of fruits, vegetables, and herbs on our self-sustainable, solar-powered farm just outside the GTA. We harvest our cucumbers at peak freshness rather than picking early for long-distance shipping, which is what gives them that crisp texture and clean flavor that can fade quickly in cucumbers that travel long distances before reaching a store shelf. Growing organically also means healthier soil over time, since we avoid the synthetic fertilizers and chemical pest control that conventional operations rely on. Because our farm operates on clean solar energy and keeps costs low through self-sufficient infrastructure, we can price our organic produce fairly rather than charging a premium just for the label. Cucumbers will be available individually through our online store for home delivery, at our on-farm retail outlet, or wholesale to hotels, restaurants, and grocery stores across the GTA. We’ve built walk-in cold storage on-site to help preserve freshness through the growing season, and any surplus that doesn’t sell gets donated weekly to our local food bank and the Salvation Army kitchen — so a strong harvest benefits the wider community, not just our own bottom line.
