Rabbit at CFR Farms

Raising New Zealand Rabbits for Sustainable, Organic Meat

CFR Farms is raising 40–50 New Zealand rabbits — the cheapest and fastest way to grow organic meat on the farm. It takes just 12 weeks for a rabbit to be ready for processing, and each doe produces multiple litters a year, with rabbits reaching 9–12 pounds in weight.

Rabbit meat is a highly efficient, nutrient-dense protein — higher in protein than any other livestock we raise, and a great source of vitamin B12, niacin, phosphorus, and iron.

Our fast production cycle means fresh rabbit meat is available on a consistent, reliable schedule, making it one of the most sustainable protein sources on the farm.

Today, our rabbit program supports:

  • Fast, efficient organic meat production

  • High protein, B12, and iron content

  • Fur, alongside meat production

This project reflects our commitment to finding the most sustainable path to organic protein, without compromising on quality.

PROJECT CHALLENGES

Rabbit is one of the most efficient, sustainable proteins we raise, and it’s a growing part of how CFR Farms delivers organic meat at an affordable price.
